Ausom L2 Max Dual Motor review: 998.4Wh and two 1000W motors

Power, battery and rated range

Ausom specifies two 1000W brushless motors and a combined peak output of 2688W. The distinction matters. The 2000W figure describes the listed continuous motor rating, while 2688W is the short peak figure the product page emphasizes. Neither number establishes acceleration, hill speed or thermal performance without controlled measurement, so this review does not turn wattage into a ride claim.

The battery is listed at 48V and 20.8Ah, or 998.4Wh. Ausom pairs that pack with an up-to-56-mile range. That distance is a manufacturer rating. The page does not publish a complete protocol covering rider weight, average speed, temperature, elevation, tire pressure and use of one or both motors, so it cannot be presented as real range.

What the battery figure does allow is a clean capacity comparison when shopping: 998.4Wh is the published energy store, independent of the route-specific range claim. It is also the reason charging arrangements deserve attention.

Chassis, dimensions and load

At 73.4 lb net, the L2 Max Dual Motor is not a light last-mile scooter. That number should be checked against stairs, vehicle loading and the place where it will be stored. Ausom gives the folded size as 50.4 by 27.1 by 22 inches and the unfolded size as 50.4 by 27.1 by 56.5 inches. Folding reduces height, not the 50.4-inch length or 27.1-inch handlebar width.

The listed maximum load is 287 lb. That means rider and anything carried together, not rider weight alone. The frame material is 6061 aluminium alloy, and the footboard measures 21.6 by 7.5 inches. Those are useful fit and storage facts, but they do not substitute for a published fatigue standard, which Ausom does not provide on this page.

Ausom lists an IP54 waterproof level. In practical documentation terms, this is a limited ingress rating, not permission to submerge or hose the scooter. The maker’s own cleaning instructions call for covering the charging and USB ports, wiping with a soft dry cloth and avoiding soaking, hoses and power washers.

Brakes, tires and charging

The brake specification is E-ABS plus front and rear disc brakes. Ausom does not publish rotor diameter, caliper type or a stopping-distance test, so the hardware can be named but its performance cannot be quantified here.

The tires are listed as 10 by 3 inches, tubeless, with 50 PSI identified as the best pressure. A pressure figure is valuable because load, handling and puncture risk depend on correct inflation. Owners still need to follow the manual and tire markings, particularly if either differs from a changing product page.

Two charging ports create the 5.5-to-12-hour charge window. Ausom says two 2A chargers take about 5.5 hours and one takes about 12 hours. The box includes one 54.6V, 2A charger. The shorter number therefore requires buying another compatible charger; it is not the out-of-box charge time.

Controls and published equipment

The official page lists a 4.5-inch LCD, NFC cards, a passcode lock, front and rear lighting, turn signals, brake lights, and USB-A and USB-C outputs. It also documents hidden-menu settings for speed limiting, start behavior, E-ABS strength, cruise control, NFC binding and backlight brightness.

That level of documentation is useful, but local vehicle rules remain the buyer’s responsibility. The US product selector offers presets of 38 mph and 15 mph. A selectable or preset speed does not itself establish where the scooter may legally be used, and Ausom tells buyers to follow local laws.
